Good evening ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your time tonight.

The reason I’m here is to let you know you have a choice for sheriff in 2008.

Today, the sheriff’s office is broken. For many years the office has been abused and as a result your safety and the safety of all Maricopa residents is at risk.

Millions of your tax dollars have been wasted on jail abuses, superficial projects, bloated salaries and programs to promote the sheriff nationally and internationally.

Ladies and gentleman, you don’t have a sheriff who serves the public good. You have a celebrity who only serves himself.

You deserve a sheriff who will make keeping you safe a priority. And I want to be that sheriff.

You have a celebrity who has mismanaged the office.

I ‘m going to be the sheriff who rebuilds the office into an effective an efficient police agency.

You have a celebrity who closes jails.

I will be the sheriff who keeps the bad guys off the streets and keeps them off through good police work and crime prevention.

You have a celebrity who denies new police recruits training.

I will be the sheriff who provides the best training to officers so they can fight crime and protect you.

You have a celebrity who has failed to serve 40,000 felony warrants.

I will be the sheriff who takes felons off the streets and protects your family.

You have a celebrity who rewards political friends with high salaries.

I will be the sheriff who audits the office and cuts the waste.

You have a celebrity who spends money on worthless and redundant programs that have the sole purpose of creating media interest and gives people a false sense that they are safe.

I will be the sheriff that invests your tax money wisely and puts your safety first by creating real programs that are effective in preventing crime and protecting you at great cost savings.

You have a celebrity who likes to do it all alone.

I will be the sheriff who recognizes that we can achieve our public safety goals by partnering with the community and other law enforcement agencies.

You have a celebrity who could care less about the law and your civil rights.

I will be the sheriff who understands that it’s more important to use his authority to protect your rights not abuse them.

You have a celebrity who serves only himself.

I will be the sheriff who serves only you.

Join me in this campaign to get the job done right and I will be your sheriff, the sheriff who stands tall for you and prevents crime and protects your community.

My plan is to manage the office professionally, make public safety the priority and eliminate wasteful spending.

I ask that you engage in this fight for our future. This is a fight about what’s right and wrong. Recognize that this is a high stakes campaign that will mean the difference between preserving safety and freedom versus reckless celebrity and selfish control.
